The expression, “When it rains, it pours.” Is usually designated as a negative phrase about several things in life not going right. But, in this case it is a very positive thing!

To my astonishment, WHAT PEOPLE ARE, a short film I acted in last year has also been selected ARFF which is returning for their 8th year in Austin! To put this in perspective, They received around 3,000 submissions this year, and are only screening around 150. That is only 5%! (looks like I’m cursing with the percent sign next to the explanation point, but I’m not). So, needless to say that I am overwhelmed with excitement to be included with so many wonderful films, and at a fest where competition is fierce.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE is written and directed by Jordan Wilson, who has been nominated for “College Filmmaker of the Year” and “Best College Film,” at the fest. This is Wilson’s first time at the helm, but she does so with grace, exploring some views from a female perspective that sometimes go to the wayside, or are overlooked in society. And she’s just getting started in her film career. Hoping that if you’re in the Austin area this Sept 3-7 that you will check out ou film, and the many others that are screening at the fest!

Until next time, Vale
